Kenneth Edwin Phillips (25 August 1946-27 September 2013), 67, of Atlanta, GA, died early Friday in his home. Mr. Phillips was born in Columbus, GA to the late John Henry Phillips and Lillian Lucille Phillips. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 aboard the USS America (CVA66). He followed his service by completing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, a Registered Nurse (RN) degree, and his Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) degree from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. He dedicated many hours to the promotion and betterment of the CRNA profession, serving as president of both the Georgia and American Associations of Nurse Anesthetists (GANA, AANA). He was a wonderful husband and a loving father. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Bruce Phillips, of 43 years, his brother, John Henry Phillips, Jr., his sister, Mary Leach, his son, Kenneth Paul Phillips, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A funeral service, with the rendering of Military Honors, will be held on Wednesday October 2nd at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Dr. Walter Jones and Rev. Mary Jane Cornell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AANA in Kenneth's name.
