Kenneth Gene Ledford, Sr.

Mr. Kenneth Gene (K. G.)Ledford, Sr., age 63, of Maple Ridge Dr., Cartersville, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007. Mr. Ledford was born October 20, 1943 in Bartow County, son of the late Henry Connor Ledford and Nellie Landers Ledford. Mr. Ledford was a retired police officer having served over 30 years with the Cartersville police department, earning the rank of captain by the end of his retirement. He also was appointed acting chief of police during his career. Mr. Ledford was also an active member of the Grace Baptist Church in Cartersville. Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Ledford is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joan Wheeler Ledford of Cartersville; his children, Ken Ledford, Cartersville, Kirk and Janis Ledford, Cartersville, Kevin Ledford, Atlanta, and Gina and Danny Mitchell of Maggie Valley, N.C.; stepchildren, Jimmy and Dee Tidwell, Cartersville, and Rusty Tidwell, Atlanta. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2007 at 1:00 P .M. at the Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Harris and the Rev. Carl Billue officiating. After the funeral service, Mr. Ledford's body will be cremated. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Those desiring may send contributions in Mr. Ledford's memory to the Grace Baptist Church. The A. S. Turner and Sons funeral Home of Decatur, GA. has charge of the arrangements.
