Our loving mother, Kitty T. Ketcham, born February 16, 1928, in Louisville, KY, departed this life on September 16, 2013, in Atlanta, Georgia. Kitty studied at Ringling Art School in Sarasota, Florida, where she met her husband-to-be, Ray W. Ketcham, Jr. They married in December, 1947 and moved to Atlanta, GA.Early in their marriage, Kitty bred and showed German Shepherds. In the 1960's, Kitty and Ray opened the Ray Ketcham Gallery in Buckhead. Their gallery was noted for introducing Atlanta to fine artwork of 19th and early 20th century Europe and America. Kitty's keen eye for artistry and design led her to pursue many creative outlets. She was a gifted seamstress, knitter and jewelry maker. She also excelled in musical endeavors, playing the piano and organ, as well as singing in church choirs and with the Choral Guild of Atlanta. Throughout her life, Kitty was an active and devoted member of the church (teaching Sunday school and working with the youth) and was involved in a variety of charitable organizations. Kitty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray. She is survived by her two children, Victoria Ketcham Guthrie (Richard) of Alpharetta, GA and Peter D. Ketcham (Barbara) of Acworth, GA; two grandsons, David T. Ketcham and Jacob A. Ketcham; her brothers, Wallace A. Taylor and Daniel T. Taylor, her beloved twin; and many nieces and nephews. We would like to express our special thanks to the professionals and staff of Brighton Gardens Assisted Living and Halcyon Hospice who so lovingly cared for our mother. Although Kitty will be sorely missed, her family rejoices in a life so well lived. She will be remembered for her joyful and exuberant spirit, her loving and endearing nature, and the loyal and nurturing friendship she so freely shared. Our lives have been so profoundly enriched having known and loved Kitty. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338.
