Kristin Marie Dunstan

Kristin Marie Dunstan, age 49 of Decatur, GA passed away November 17, 2019. Kristin is the daughter of Thomas and Maria Dunstan of Macomb, IL. Kristin graduated from Macomb High School in 1988 and was a Rotary exchange student to New Zealand her senior year. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Rhetoric and a Master’s Degree in Theatre History and Dramatic Criticism from the University of Illinois. Kristin just completed her Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Performance at Mary Baldwin University, VA. Her career included working at the Krannert Center in IL, the Berkshire Theater Festival in MA, the Globe Theatre in London, Marketing Director at Western Illinois University, and she had currently returned to the Shakespeare Tavern Theatre in Atlanta as the Executive Director.

In addition to her parents, Kristin is survived by her brother, Marcus Dunstan; uncles Roy (Val) Toivonen and Erik (Dorothy) Toivonen; aunt Paula (Jim) Foster; cousins Amy (Clint) Miller and Jon (Nikki) Toivonen; five beautiful 2nd cousins Riley, Laura, Zoe, Maija, and Claire; and many wonderful friends. Kristin was preceded in death by her grandparents Ben and Gen Dunstan and Urho and Mildred Toivonen.

Kristin’s love of Shakespeare began when she was 5 years old. She and her Grandma Gen formed the 403 Lakeview Boulevard Players ( Grandma’s address), and while Grandma Gen read Shakespeare’s plays, Kristin would perform. Kristin will be remembered for her unrivaled kindness and love of sharing laughter with all.

A gathering in remembrance of Kristin will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Macomb Country Club from 1-3 pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Minnesota. Donations in her memory can be sent to the Western Illinois University Foundation, the Susan G.
