Kyong Cha Benton

KYONG CHA BENTON (Gyung Ja Yi), born November 17, 1944 in Pohang, South Korea, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away on December 29, 2010, after a difficult battle with Myelodysplasia. Cha was a graduate of Gwinnett Technical College and retired in 2008 from SunTrust Bank. Among her many interests, she was an avid gardener, cooking enthusiast and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Jim Goodman. She is survived by daughter Zandra Benton of Chatsworth, Georgia; daughter Jerri Benton-Mason and her husband Jerry Mason of Marietta, Georgia; son Jonathan Benton and his wife Tiffany Benton of Atlanta, Georgia; and her four grandchildren, Lauren Phillips, Taylor Phillips, Sydney Phillips and Colin Benton. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to The MDS Foundation “in memory of Cha Benton”.
