Lanette Johnston Hutchins Wright

January 28, 1930 — May 28, 2016

Lanette Johnston Hutchins Wright, 86, of Dunwoody passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016. A native of Atlanta, she spent her childhood in the Decatur area, attending Clairmont Elementary and later graduating from Decatur High School. She went on to earn her BA from University of Georgia. Cherishing her memory are her husband, Richard "Dick" Wright; sons, Taylor E. Wright and his wife, Pam, Richard A. Wright and Scott J. Wright; granddaughter, Bailey W. O'Leary and her husband, Brendan; grandson, Dylan Wright and her great-grandson, Aidan O'Leary.
Lanette was a faithful member and volunteer for the Episcopal church. She cherished her new and lifelong friendships. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi, Beta Sigma Phi, and the PEO sororities. Lanette loved to learn and was determined to try and master new things. She loved to play golf and was a skilled bridge player. Lanette loved to read. She looked forward to the annual book fair at the Marcus Community Jewish Center in Dunwoody, where she also took exercise classes.
Most of all, Lanette was kind, patient, and caring, always considering the needs and happiness of her husband, family, and friends. She brought joy and comfort to all of us every day. She guided us with her strength and wisdom. She was the heart and backbone of our family. We are blessed to have had her with us. We love her greatly and will miss her immeasurably.

Memorial services for Lanette will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 1 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 515 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030, with Father Greg Tallant officiating, with burial to follow in Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur, GA.
