Laqueta Goodman Leonard

Laqueta Goodman Leonard, age 90, died in Atlanta on February 19, 2022. She was raised in Heflin, Alabama and moved to Atlanta to work for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. She met and married Fred Goodman. A woman of many talents, she also was a seamstress, hung wallpaper, and worked at the post office.

Mrs. Leonard was very active in her church, Belvedere United Methodist Church, a talented gardener, and a master story teller. She was involved in the Avondale Estates community and enjoyed attending the Avondale Estates Woman’s Club.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Ragnar Goodman and Jonas Fred Goodman, his wife Cecilie, and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her five siblings.

Funeral services will take place at Resthaven Cemetery, 2284 Candler Road, Decatur, GA 30032 on Wednesday, February 23 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Mrs. Leonard’s honor to the Avondale Estates Woman’s Club, 21 North Avondale Plaza, Avondale Estates, GA 30002.
