Larry Hunter, Sr. of Acworth, age 75, passed from this life on April 7th following a diagnosis of lung cancer July 3, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Doris Ewing Hunter. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Hilda; sons Major (Ret.) Larry David Hunter, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, and Scott Andrew Hunter and his wife, Marciey; grandchildren Maegan, Madison, Christian, Adleigh and William; brother Ewing Edward Hunter and his wife, Gloria; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Larry was born in Atlanta and grew up in the Druid Hills area before his family moved to Tucker where he met his wife, Hilda. He graduated from Gordon Military Academy and attended Oglethorpe University. He owned his own business, Clairmont Industries, Inc. for 50 years and was respected and admired by all who knew him. A man of faith, he served as a deacon and usher in the churches he attended through the years and was an active member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church the last 20 years. Larry was known by all as an easygoing and kind-hearted man of noble character who loved life and was devoted to his family.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 12th, at 11:30 a.m. The family will greet friends at a reception following.
