Larry John Polstra

June 28, 1945 — July 21, 2018

Larry John Polstra, 73, of Tucker, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Born in Lafayette, Indiana to John and Elizabeth Polstra, he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963 and Bob Jones University in 1968. Entering into the Marine Corp. after college, he served in the Vietnam War and later stayed in the Reserves until being honorably discharged as a decorated Captain in 1981. Graduating from Atlanta Law School in 1977, he was an active attorney until his death. He was known for his faith in Christ, love of Corvettes, driving, unique sense of humor, and almost never missed a family event. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Joan, brother Jack and wife Joyce Polstra, brother-in-law Richard McCloud, and nephew Steve McCloud. He is survived by a large family located across the country and in Hawaii including his wife of 30 years Barbara, of Tucker; Fay McConnell, mother-in law; step daughters/husbands Tobi and Jeff and Teri and Steve; step-son Shawn Rozier and wife Shawnee with Larry’s grandchildren Charity and husband Curtis Taylor, Savannah, Hunter, Brooke, Heath and Garrett Rozier, and great grandchild Lincoln Taylor; sister Janet McCloud; sister-in law Teddie Dominy Land along with 12 nieces, nephews and their spouses and 9 great nieces/nephews. A combined visitation and memorial service will be held Sunday, July 29 from 3 pm - 5 pm in the Grand Hall of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur with the service starting at 4 pm. He will be buried with military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Monday, July 30 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atlanta Mission. A.S.
