Laura Frances Dewitt

Laura Frances Nix DeWitt, 96, of Decatur, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Sunday October 6, 2019.

She was born November 5, 1922 to William and Laura Nix of Nashville, Tennessee. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, her husband, William Herbert DeWitt and her daughter, Verna Ann DeWitt Brown.

She is survived by her son John DeWitt (Heather), son-in-law, William Brown (Karen), and grandson Jake Brown (Shannon). Step-grandchildren include Michael Duncan (Tamara), Victoria Boyd (McLean), Carrie Elizabeth Duncan, Zachary Weaver, Wyatt Weaver and Ivy Weaver. Frances was recently blessed with her first great grandchild, Tyler William Brown. Nothing in her final months made her happier than holding Tyler. Tyler will be kept in good company with his cousins, Haven Duncan and Robert “Bo” Boyd.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 12th, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Oak Grove Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, Georgia. Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Internment will take place on Friday October 18th at 2 pm at Florence National Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina.
