Lavonne Laird Bush, of Decatur, passed away September 4, 2012 after a short illness.She was born September 28, 1923 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, the daughter of Maxie Samuel and Ollie Virginia Laird. A graduate of Hinds Junior College and Ole Miss, she met her husband of 55 years, George Truett Bush (deceased), while working for Southern Bell Tel. & Tel. Co. (now AT&T). She moved to Atlanta upon their marriage and his transfer to the corporate office. Lavonne was a longtime member of Briarlake Baptist Church, a bridge club with other Southern Bell spouses and the Leafmore Hills neighborhood. She was also privileged to have had three wonderful companions over the years, her Pomeranians Jock, Echo and Smokey. She is predeceased by her son George Truett Bush, Jr., her parents and sisters Lexie L. Beasley and Maxine L. Woodard, and many of her beloved Bush in-laws.Lavonne is survived by her daughters, Lexie Lavonne Bush and Virginia (Ginna) Lee Fisher; granddaughters, Scottie Fisher Brinkley (Andrew) and Jordan Lee Fisher; great grandson, Nathan James Brinkley and niece, Dawn N. Plaisance and family and the extended Fisher family. Surviving Bush relatives are sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Bush and Kathleen Stovall (Joe); and the many nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 8, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with interment to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
