Lawrence Junior Knight

Lawrence J. Knight age 78 dedicated husband, proud father of two children and two granddaughters passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2021.

Lawrence was born on July 25, 1943 in Porterdale, GA to Relious and Geneva Knight. A proud, dedicated U.S. Army veteran, he humbly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked at multiple Atlanta Dairies with the majority of his career as a supervisor for Mathis Dairy in Decatur, GA.

He had a love for all animals and a gift for making everyone around him happy. He loved the beach and spotting boats and wildlife with binoculars. He enjoyed sporty cars and fishing, but most of all he just loved spending time with his family. He was especially known for his kind and gentle spirit, quick straight forward wit, and his infectious humor that always left others smiling.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Relious and Geneva Knight, brothers Stevie and Michael. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret, children Christine (Crissy) Cruz and husband Mark, Jeffrey (Jeff) Knight, granddaughters Sienna and Emery, and a brother, Ricky Knight.

A memorial service with be held on November 9, 2021 at 11:00 am in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur, GA. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of Flowers, family is suggesting donations be made to the American Heart Association.
