Leighton Burroughs Deming, Jr., 73, of Cumming, GA, passed away on July 4th, 2017 in Cumming, GA.

Leighton was born in Royston, GA to Leighton Burroughs Deming, Sr. and Martha Ellen Phillips Deming on September 10, 1943. He graduated from Cross Keys High School in 1961. He graduated from Reinhardt College and attended Oglethorpe University. He earned JD and LLM Degrees at John Marshall Law School. He worked as an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School, Gwinnett County Justice of the Peace, and practiced law in Georgia for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force. He was a published author, accomplished artist, and was involved in the Mountain Park Jaycees, Toastmasters, The Optimist Club, Vistana Resort Board of Directors, and BNI. He was an avid tennis player, fisherman, golfer, and friend. He enjoyed the Atlanta Falcons, traveling, gardening and family.

Leighton is survived by his wife, Annette Castillo Deming; mother, Martha Ellen Phillips Deming; sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph L. Deming (Amanda), Kevin R. Deming (Rebecca), step-sons, Steven M. Black (Lesa), Ryan A. Black, Christopher H. Black; grandchildren, David, Micah, Raegan, Jude, Colin, Shaylan; sister, Priscilla Darby (Richard); brother, Michael D. Deming, Sr. (Susan); sister-in-law, Peggy Baldwin (Steve); brother-in-law, Michael Castillo (Debbie); nieces and nephews, Kathryn D. Croft (Riley), Michael D. Deming, Jr. (Erica); great nieces, Maggie and Jordyn.

Leighton is preceded in death by his father, Leighton Burroughs Deming, Sr.

Visitation will be at A.S Turner & Sons Funeral Home (Decatur) on Saturday, July 8th at 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Reception will be immediately after the service.
