Leon Homer Mullins, Jr., of Decatur, died April 1, 2011. An Atlanta native, Mr. Mullins graduated from Tech High and attended Georgia Tech. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII, where he flew combat missions all across Europe and northern Africa earning the Air Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with Silver Star and Bronze Stars. After the war, Mr. Mullins became an architect and was the owner of Mullins & Associates, primarily designing public schools throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area. He was a proud member of the A.I.A and Atlanta Athletic Club. Mr. Mullins was a long time member of Briarlake Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sara Stephens Mullins; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Paulee Mullins of Newnan; son, Don Mullins of Decatur; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jack Mullins of Los Angeles CA, Jason and Brittney Mullins of Duluth; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Treva Mullins of Decatur. The funeral service will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Larry Sullivan officiating. Interment, Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons.
