Lewis Brantley White, Jr, 80, of Decatur, died February 20, 2012. A native of Decatur, Mr. White was a 1949 graduate of Avondale High School. Shortly after high school, he was drafted into the U. S. Army, serving in the Medical Corps. Mr. White briefly attended Georgia State University and began a career as a bookkeeper. Throughout the years he worked for Warren Refrigeration, North American Acceptance Corp., A Harts & Flowers Florist and Evans Fine Foods. His volunteerism included membership with the Jaycees, Lions and Kiwanis. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Medlin White and is survived by his son, Joseph Robert White and his partner, Suzanne Szabo of Washington DC; sister, Maggie White of Cumming; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Billy Van Meter of Decatur and Charlotte and Tommy Guffey, of Cumming; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2012, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Panola Road. The family will receive friends 4-7 Wednesday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
