Mrs. Carl S. (Lila Pope) Crittenden, age 75, passed away on December 13, 2007, after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. The daughter of Doris Parker Pope and Frank Sykes Pope, she was born and raised in Villa Rica, Georgia. She graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, with a B.S. in Biology. Following college, she worked for the Centers for Disease Control in Montgomery, where she met her husband, Mr. Carl S. Crittenden. They were married on August 12, 1956, and were happily married for 45 years. The couple resided in East Point before moving to the Northlake area, where they were members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Crittenden was a loving wife, adoring mother, and kind neighbor. She enjoyed dining with friends and watching home design and cooking shows on television. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Crittenden was preceded in death by her beloved husband. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Sarah Crittenden, and Mark and Karen Crittenden, and two grandchildren, Misses Emmaline and Anna Crittenden, all of Atlanta; her sister and brother-in-law, Gordon and Martha Smith of LaGrange; a sister-in-law, Beverly Crittenden of East Point; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Dolores Crittenden of St. Cloud, Florida; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and cousins. The family will receive guests from 1 P.M. to 6 P.M. on December 15 and 16, 2007, at Mrs. Crittenden's home. A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. on December 17, 2007, in Shellman, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Visiting Nurse/Hospice Atlanta, Office of Advancement, 6610 Bay Circle, Suite C, Norcross, GA 30071. A. S.
