Mrs. Virginia Webster White, 94, a long-time resident of Atlanta died Wednesday, December 2, 2009. A native of Grayson, Georgia, she was born on July 30, 1915, the youngest of 7 children of Bobbie Vernoy Bradley and Thompsie Green Chapman, a school teacher and lay Methodist minister in Gwinnett County. Mrs. White was the oldest and longest standing member of Epworth United Methodist Church at Candler Park, where she taught Sunday school in the Junior Department and Workers Class and she was Past President of UMW. She was a Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow Girls Atlanta #5, a member of the Order of Eastern Star #57. She was previously involved with the Atlanta PTA, serving as president of the Mary Lin Elementary PTA and the W. A. Bass High School PTA, and she was past president of the Atlanta Presidents Club. Mrs. White was co-owner and operator of Webster Garage and Body Shop and Webster Parking Company. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, Virginia’s family was the most important part of her life and she will be sorely missed by all those she touched. Preceded in death by her husbands, C. J. Webster and Eugene White, she is survived by her sister-in-law Billie Webster of Buford and her life friend Hazel Manus; children, Sally Webster of Ann Arbor, MI, Patricia and Stan Hathcock of Canton, Zelda White of Atlanta, Elwood and Phyllis White of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Ley and Cherie Hathcock of Flowery Branch, Kevin and Dawn Hathcock of Woodstock, James and Tanitha Hathcock of Queens, NY, Catherine and Jeff LaPoint of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren, Aly, Andrew, Ian, Claire and Alexandra Hathcock and Bryce LaPoint; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Sally Webster and Rev. Guy Kent officiating. Interment, Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church in memory of Virginia Webster White.
