Lilyc Bee-Jin (Lee) Lau was called to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on 4 Dec 2020 at age 87. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Rev Kuok Ding Lau. Lilyc was born in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, as the eldest of 7 children, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Her sisters are Bee Im Lee, Bee Yong Lee, Bee Teik Lee, Her brothers are Keat Jin Lee, Thean Seong Lee, and Thean Jin Lee. Lilyc's parents are Mr Lee Cheng Tin and Mdm Saw Chooi Sian. Lilyc was baptized as a baby and accepted Christ when she was 14 years old in the Chinese Methodist Church in Penang. She went to Trinity Theological College in Singapore in 1956-58. In 1959-1960, she went into the Mission Field in Kapit, Malaysia to be a missionary among the Iban headhunters. While a missionary among the local tribes, she met Ding Lau and were married in November 1960. They soon moved to Nashville, TN, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Education at Peabody College for Teachers from 1961-1962 and also in Toronto in 1962-1964. In 1964, Ding and Lilyc returned to Malaysia where she taught at Rajang Teachers College, Batu Lintang Teachers College and also at Saint Joseph and Saint Teresa Secondary Schools. Lilyc also received her Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University in 1979. Lilyc and Ding have 3 sons, Abel Lau (Emily Lau), Zebedee Lau (Scott Van Derbeck), and Olin Lau (Nicole Lau). She had 6 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. In 1978, the Lau family immigrated to the USA and landed in Kentucky. Lilyc taught at McHenry Elementary School in Kentucky and received her Master of Arts in Education from Western Kentucky University at Bowling Green in 1979. In 1981, the Laus moved to Atlanta and Lilyc started teaching at Mimosa Elementary School in Roswell, GA (1981-2000). Lilyc taught 4th and 5th grades. In 2000, she retired from teaching after 19 years to be with Ding so they could travel together and accomplish God's mission work together. They traveled to China three times (2007, 08, 09), working with the Chinese missionaries. In Nov 2020, Lilyc and Ding celebrated their 60th Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Lilyc was an active member at Oak Grove United Methodist church and with the Womens group. Lilyc also attended InTown Community Church. Lilyc loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was faithful servant to Him. We rejoice in the fact that Lilyc is home now with her eternal Father and and enjoying life in eternity with Him.
