Livia Pardo Muñoz, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sunday morning at her home in Atlanta in the company of her loving husband, Maximo F. Muñoz. Livia was born Libia Milagros Pardo in the small town of Preston in the Santiago province of Cuba on November 27th. She was the daughter of Nallive and Remigio Pardo, and was one of seven brothers and sisters. She loved to travel and was an active sportswoman all her life. Livia worked as secretary to the president of a Rayon factory in Havana. There, she met a young engineer named Max Muñoz. They soon fell in love and were married in December of 1958. Max was already established in the United States as a student at Georgia Tech when Cuba was overtaken by Communism. So, with little but the clothes on their backs and their love for each other, the couple made their home in Atlanta. Their three children were born and raised in Georgia. Fernando Remigio, Livia Maria, and Juan Alejandro all still reside in Atlanta with their families. Livia was a life-long faithful Catholic and always active in her parish; she was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church since 1968. She also worked with her sister-in-law, Dr. Juana L. Muñoz, for many years. She was unwavering in her support of her husband's business, Tri Chem Company. Later on in life, perhaps her biggest passion was doting on her 12 grandchildren. Although those who mourn her are comforted by the hope that she will soon be with God in His glory, she will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was known as Libia, Nenin, China, Mami, and Ea...but no matter how, when, or by whom she was called, she always responded with love, attention, and forgiveness.Te queremos mucho, Mami! Livia is survived by her husband Max, sons Fernando and Alex, daughter Livia, grandchildren Fernando, Rosa, Eduardo, Sofia, Jose, Alejo, Kurt, Margarita, Daniel, Teresa, Nicolas, and Joseph. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Edith Pardo Cardenas, her brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs.Rube Pardo, her sister-in-law Mrs. Ina Munoz Soles, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Turner, followed by a rosary. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 A.M. on Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Atlanta.
