Mrs. Loretta J. Kilgore, 88 of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was a longtime, faithful member of Druid Hills Baptist Church since 1951. Mrs. Kilgore was also an active member of the Beacon Sunday School class, served on the hospitality committee and cared for many children in the church nursery since 1956. During World War II, she worked at Western Union routing official notifications for the military. She was a gifted seamstress and had her own home-based alteration business for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Herschel H. Kilgore and is survived by her children, Lamar Kilgore of Lilburn, GA, Laverne Kilgore of Washington, GA and Terry and Dolly Kilgore of Roswell, GA; Granddaughter, Laurea and Scott Griggs of Newnan, GA; and sister-in-law, Marie Bell of Breman, GA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30th at 10:00 AM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Harold Zwald officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons.
