Louis William Heintz, Sr., 89, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Mr. Heintz was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Atlanta as a teenager. A 1941 graduate of Tech High, he served briefly with the Marines before working with the War Department during WWII, after which he graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in accounting. Mr. Heintz was an insurance inspector and auditor and worked for several local firms including Equifax. He was an ardent Bulldogs and Falcons fan. Go Dawgs! He never missed a Falcon's home game from the teams first in 1966 until health prevented him from attending. Mr. Heintz enjoyed gardening, coaching of his sons' little league teams, and sports of all types. He and his wife, the late Barbara Raye Souther Heintz, enjoyed cross country travel with their sons, but their favorite trip was to the Holy Land where Jerusalem was a particular delight. Mr. Heintz was a congregant of North Decatur Presbyterian Church for decades and had lived in the Medlock area for 62 years. Mr. Heintz is survived by his sons, Louis William Heintz, Jr. of Avondale Estates and Larry Stephen Heintz of Decatur; grandson, William Heintz of Avondale Estates; granddaughter, Mary Alison Heintz and great-granddaughter Jordyn Elise Faichney, both of Orlando. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at A.S. Turner & Sons at 12:00 Noon on Thursday October 18th with Rev. David Lewicki officiating, with entombment at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
