Louise Johnson Cox, 89, a long time resident of Decatur died Thursday, December 11, 2008. She was a beloved member of Martha Brown United Methodist Church for 57 years. She served as financial secretary for over ten years and was a devoted member of the Alice Walker Sunday school class. Following retirement she was a resident of Clairmont Oaks in Decatur where she enjoyed playing bridge and developed many friendships. Louise enjoyed traveling when she was able and looked forward to each and every family gathering with great eagerness. A true Southern lady, she had a passion for cooking and will always be remembered for her tea cakes. She unselfishly gave herself and her time to others and will be sorely missed by all she touched in her unique way. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Larry Thrailkill of Brentwood, TN, Deborah and Greg Horning of Riverdale; four grandchildren, Mark Thrailkill, Maria Thrailkill Vaughn and her husband Andrew Vaughn, Kyle Bartlett and wife Rebecca, Lauren Bartlett; two great grandchildren, Thomas Vaughn, Julianne Vaughn; two sisters, LaVerne Brewer, and Vivian Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Edna Johnson; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 A. M. at A. S. Turner & Sons with Pastor David Collins officiating. Interment, Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family would like to express deep gratitude and appreciation to Louise’s home health care giver, Nancy Calhoun and hospice care giver, Barbara Atkinson, for the loving care they gave.
