Louise Mcdonald

Louise McDonald passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 94 years young. She was born in Atlanta on June 22, 1918. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Tom Fowler, sister, Grace Betsill and husband, Bill McDonald. She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Linda and Chick Sward of Atlanta; grandchildren, Stacey Sward Norwood and husband Grant Norwood of Atlanta and Drs. Chris and Lisa Sward of Cartersville; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Mallory Barnes of Atlanta and Anna Sward of Cartersville; sister, Jerry Shockley of Gainesville, FL; nephew, Robert Betsill and wife, Adela Betsill of Duluth; niece, Barbara Dortch of Gulf Breeze, FL. Louise lived her life with grace and beauty and was a generous, gentle and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and friends meant everything to her. Travels abroad with family and trips to Seaside, FL were special highlights. An extended trip to Greece with her sister proved to be a fantastic adventure. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 12 years ago. Since that time, two extremely special women provided her the best care: Marion Cannon and Brandy Johnson. They were not just her caregivers, but also her daily companions who kept her busy, active and smiling. Two other wonderful ladies that were part of the care giving team are Frances Jennings and Janie Parker. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to: The Emory Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, c/o Emory University Health Sciences Development, 1440 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30322 Or Plymouth Harbor, 2676 Clairmont Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14th from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at A.S. Turner and Son. A funeral service will be in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Dr. G.
