Louise Tribble Cerny, of Atlanta, GA, died at her home on Wednesday March 28, 2018, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was the wife of John Carl Cerny, who survives with their three sons: John David Cerny (Lynne) of Duluth, GA, Dr. Paul Quinn Cerny (Kathy) of Buford, GA, and CPT Mark Robert Cerny (Kim) of Perry, GA. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Cerny is also survived by her brother, Dr. David Edgar Tribble (Dot), and by her sister, Betty Tribble Wills, all of Columbia, SC.
Katherine Louise Cerny was born May 6, 1930, in Clinton, SC, daughter of Warren Blakely Tribble and Bessie Quinn Tribble. She graduated from Erskine College in 1951. The following year she entered Emory University School of Nursing, earning a second bachelor’s degree in 1955. She was employed as a registered nurse at Emory University Hospital until retiring when her children were born.
At Erskine College, she was elected Chair of the Women’s Council of Student Government and was especially active in Christian education and choral music. As a senior, the college named her to be listed in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 12 Noon Saturday May 19th. The family will receive at the funeral home Friday evening May 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
