Lt. Col. William Mead Wandall, U.S. Army (Retired), age 76, died November 9, 2009. He was born May 9, 1933 in Camden, NJ, the son of the late Frederick G. Wandall and Thelma Summerson Wandall. Colonel Wandall was a graduate of the University of Richmond. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1952. Colonel Wandall served in the Vietnam War. During his service, he received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star. After retirement, Col. Wandall went to work for the Army’s Civil Service as well as being an active reservist. He received the Army’s Star Meritorious Service Award for Operation Desert Storm, the Double Eagle Award for volunteer services, and the Superior Civilian Service Award. Col. Wandall is survived by his son, William Tarleton Wandall, and daughter, Vianne Howitt. Memorial services will be held in the A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Decatur, GA, on April 24, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. A memorial luncheon will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 66.
