Luann Rhodes

Luann Rhodes, 46, of Lilburn, GA, formerly of Mechanisburg, PA passed away Thursday, July 8, 2004 at DeKalb Medical Center. She graduated from Mechanicsburg High School and Penn State University with a MPA and Emory University with a MPH. She was currently employed at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA as an Epidemiologist in the Behavioral Surveillance Branch. Luann was formerly employed by Klemm Analysis Group in Atlanta, Emory Hospital, Veterans Hospital of Atlanta and Blue Cross of Central Pennsylvania. She was an active member of the Atlanta Alumni Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Society, where she served as advisor to the Georgia Tech Chapter and served as Philanthropic Chairperson for several years.  She also served as past Treasurer, Secretary and currently Vice President of the Atlantic Area Panhellenic Association.  She was active in the Diabetes Association of Atlanta and served as Co-chair for the Downtown Dash for Diabetes, 1998 and 1999. Luann received an award as a volunteer for her recruiting efforts for Penn State University in the Atlanta area and was a member of the Board of Directors of Greater Atlanta Chapter of Penn State Alumni Association.  She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Richard C. Rhodes. She is survived by her mother, Marylou A. Rhodes of Mechanicsburg, PA; sister, Lori L. Rhodes; and nephew, John Ferrell of Dover, PA; uncles, Joseph and his wife Sadako Anderson of Boston, MA, Peter and his wife Carole Rhodes of Etters, PA; cousins and many loving friends.   Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15th at the Malpazzi Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg, PA. Interment will be at Rolling Green Cemetery following the services.  Those desiring may make contributions in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Corporate Square, Atlanta, GA  30329 or to the American Cancer Society, 2200 Century Parkway, Suite 950, Atlanta, GA  30345. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the service at the Malpazzi Funeral Home.
