Lucile Francis Schmitz

d. February 8, 2011

Lucile Francis (Hoag) Breunsbach Schimtz, 89, of Decatur GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 after suffering a stroke in August of 2010. She was born in Pittsfield, NY on February 17, 1921 to Mina and Benjamin Hoag and raised in Nedrow, NY. She graduated from Syracuse Central High School in 1940. Lucile then married and settled in Hamburg, NY. In 1998, after the death of her second husband, she moved to Decatur, GA to be closer to her family. She was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, participating in the "Faith" Sunday school group. Lucile was also an avid "winning" pinochle player who built many friendships through her various card clubs. She also loved to read and do creative decorative painting, a hobby she began in her 70's. Her favorite past time was, however, enjoying the company of her four-legged "best" friend Tucker.

Preceded in death by parents, Mina and Benjamin Hoag, husband Maurice "Bud" Breunsbach (1919-1977); husband Walden J. Schmitz (1918-1996); sisters Edna Hoag Mundy and Mabel Hoag Feigel; brother Richard Hoag and granddaughter Allison Breunsbach.

Survived by daughter Dianne Lewis Leonetti (George) of Clarkston, GA, and son William Breunsbach (Diane) of Bluffton, SC and stepdaughter Joan Schmitz Duggan (John) of Hamburg, NY; grandchildren Corbitt Lewis (Donna), Heather Lewis Thomas (Scott), Matthew Breunsbach (Elizabeth), Jeffrey Breunsbach and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gordon Hoag (Mary Beth) of Cape Vincent NY; sister-in-law Joyce Hoag of Nedrow, NY; sister-in-law Evylyn Breunsbach of Omaha, NE as well as several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Rd., Decatur GA 30033, 404-636-7558.

Additionally, a graveside service is planned for the spring of 2011 in Hamburg, NY.
