Lucille Foust (Scott) Hicks, age 92, of Atlanta, Georgia, died peacefully at VistaCare Hospice at Wesley Woods on March 9, 2011. Lucille was a long-time resident of Atlanta. She was born in Gadsden, AL on January 6, 1919 and was the daughter of Dr. Eugene Crampton Scott and Emma Elizabeth (Foust) Scott. She attended Agnes Scott College and graduated from Southern Methodist University. She served as the Assistant Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church U.S., where she worked for 35 years. She was a member of the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, where she sang with the choir, taught Sunday school, and served in numerous other roles. Preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Emily Wynn (Scott) Cowan, she is survived by her beloved sister, Rachael Pierce (Scott) Glass of Atlanta, and her two sons, Roger Lee Hicks, III and his wife, Donna, and James Randolph Hicks and his wife, Marie, all of Marietta, three grandchildren, Emily Catherine Hicks of Kennesaw, Barbara Allison Hicks of Boston, MA, Jason Randolph Hicks of Atlanta, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She made many close friends, including Sara Hawkes of Beverly, MA, and her Sunday-school classmates, to name a few. She was very proud of her family; she is so loved and will be dearly missed. Faithfully involved in charitable work, she routinely donated to the Thornwell Home for Children, Wounded Warriors, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Bible-a-Month-Club, and the Arbor Day Foundation, among many others. She was a driving force with the church's Six Star Refugee Program and was a board of directors member. Her contributions were greatly appreciated. Funeral Services will be at the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta on Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m., with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Lucille's name to: Thornwell Home for Children, 302 South Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur.
