Lucy Lee Martin Watkins

Lucy Lee Martin Watkins, age 106, died December 10, 2008. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and had been a member of Shallowford Presbyterian Church for 35 years at the time of her death. She taught Sunday school and was active in the women of the church at West End Presbyterian and East Point Presbyterian Churches before moving to Shallowford Presbyterian Church. Born in Tennessee, she moved to Atlanta as a young child. She attended Commercial High School in Atlanta and worked as a secretary several years before her marriage. She and Howard Hatcher Watkins were married for 49 years. After her children were in high school, she returned to work at Cascade Realty where she worked until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her daughter Alma Lee Watkins Patrick and her husband James Henry Patrick, Jr. and her brother J. R. Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Howard Watkins Carithers and her husband Edward E. Carithers, Jr.; grandchildren, James Cary Patrick and his wife Lisa Peabody Patrick, Kevin Lee Patrick and his wife Molly Miers Patrick, Julie Carithers Groce and her husband Philip R. Groce, Lisa Carithers DeCarlo and her husband David J. DeCarlo; great-grandchildren, Erin Patrick Kirkland and her husband Travis Kirkland, Brady James Patrick, Ivan Andrew Patrick, Harry Hatcher Groce, Ashlyn Elizabeth DeCarlo and Austin David DeCarlo; great-great grandson, Walker James Kirkland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express appreciation to the staffs of Campbell- Stone Christian Centers, TriMark Health Care Services and Hospice Atlanta for their loving care. Visitation will be held Friday, December 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. AT A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 13 at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, NE., Atlanta, GA 30345.
