Lula Nikas Klemis

Lula Nikas Klemis, age 95, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, died October 29, 2016. Mrs. Klemis was born July 13, 1921. She graduated from Commercial High in 1942 and worked as a secretary at the State Capital until 1947. She married James A. Klemis and raised a family of three children. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation where she taught Sunday School, was an officer in the Philoptochus Society and served as the Greek School PTA President. After the death of her husband In 1964, she took over the family business, known as Junior's Grill, a Georgia Tech tradition, where she impacted the lives of many students. There, she was affectionately known by students throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s as "Mom." She offered a helping hand and contributed to the needs of many. Everyone knew her as a giving and loving person, always thinking of others. Her warm smile and wit drew many to her.

Lula is survived by two sisters, Harriet Chaknis of Atlanta, GA and Zoe Pamfilis of Sandy Springs, GA; a son, Tom Klemis and daughter-in-law, Lis of Peachtree Corners, GA; her daughter Vickie Klemis of Dunwoody, GA, her daughter Marika Klemis of Tucker, GA; three grandchildren, Jimmy Klemis and (wife Karen) of Memphis, TN, Leigh Anne Taylor and (husband Tyler) of Columbia, TN, Natalie Broadway and (husband Wes) of Atlanta, GA; and 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anna and Sydney Taylor, Benjamin, Claire and Peter Klemis; Skylar and Jackson Broadway; and Sinclair and Rory Bragg.

Visitation will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6-8 p.m., with the prayer service at 7 p.m. (2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033). The funeral service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016. (2500 Clairmont Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329).
