Mack Wilkinson Coleman passed away on July 10, 2011.
He was born in Athens, Alabama on May 22, 1927, the son of Wallace Coleman and Edna Pernell Jones Coleman. Mack was a graduate of Limestone County High School. He served as a sergeant in the Armed Forces from 1948 through 1954.
Following his military service, he received an undergraduate degree in biology from Athens College and a Masters degree in Secondary Education from Peabody University. He taught for Davidson County Schools. Then, Mr. Coleman left teaching to pursue his life-long career with AT&T, retiring after 40 years of service.
Mack Coleman was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for 45 years where he was a charter member of the Mariner's Sunday School Class and Sunday School class teacher. He served as a member of the administrative board, a member of the United Methodists Men, and, after his retirement, he worked as a volunteer in the church office.
He is survived by his wife Betty Moore Jones Coleman, his son, Steven and his wife Cathy, his daughter, Susan and her husband, Tom, his son David and his wife Laurie, his niece Janie Hanlin Heath and her husband, Mike, his nephew, Phillip Hanlin and his wife Sandy. Mack is also survived by his grandchildren: Scotty, Angela, Daniel, Nathan, Lindsey, Ethan, Ashley, Jared, Shannon, Leslie, Matthew, Amy, Sarah, Natalie and Paul, and his great-grandson, Braden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Ministry of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association, or Children's HealthCare of Atlanta.
