Madeline Sheats Hickman

Madeline Sheats Hickman, age 99, of Decatur died on Friday, December 28, 2007, at A.G. Rhodes Home, Wesley Woods. Born in Carroll County, GA, to Dr. Thomas G. Sheats and Elizabeth Mae Kelly Sheats, she was a graduate of West Georgia A&M in 1926. Wed in 1932, she and her late husband, George L. Hickman, Jr., were married for 69 years. During the 1950's and 60's, Mrs. Hickman was employed in the Business and Admissions Offices of St. Joseph's Infirmary, Atlanta. A faithful member of Kirkwood Baptist Church and Rainbow Park Baptist Church, she served as president of the Women's Missionary Union and as a longtime choir member. She was a loving mother and is survived by her children, George L. Hickman III of Decatur and Sandra Hickman Cox (James L. Cox) of Macon. A devoted aunt and great aunt, she enjoyed her many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, in the chapel at A.S. Turner & Sons. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at A.S. Turner & Sons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A.G.
