Major Howard Lynch was promoted to Glory from Wesley Woods Budd Terrace in Atlanta, GA on Friday, July 13, 2007. He was born March 20, 1925 in Norfolk, VA. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Europe and Japan. He married Virginia Powell in 1947. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was commissioned as an officer of the Salvation Army in 1950 and served in a variety of appointments in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida. He retired in 1988 and lived in Cumming, GA. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Becky Curnow and her husband Paul of Dallas, TX; two sons, Joseph Lynch of Alpharetta, GA, Stephen Lynch and his wife Patty of Birmingham, AL; and three granddaughters, Kelley and Kerrey Lynch of Alpharetta, GA, and Stephanie Lynch of Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 17 at the Salvation Army Temple Corps. Major Rick Michaels will officiate. Interment Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Temple Corps. A. S. Turner & Sons.
