Mr. Manoli John Vastakis, 53, of Atlanta died Wednesday, January 18, 2012. A native of Athens, Greece, he served in the Greek Army, arriving in the United States in 1980. Manoli graduated from Georgia State University and was the owner of Zesto in Little Five Points since 1996. Manoli represented the finest in what it meant to be a husband, father and dedicated member of our community. He was a gracious host and loved cooking for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Despina Vastakis. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Patty Giannakopoulos Vastakis, and their children, John, Despina, and Pauline. Also surviving are his brother, Sotiris, and his wife, Tzelena and their son, Giannos; mother and father in law, Pauline and Pete Giannakopoulos; aunt and uncle Georgia and Nick Vastakis; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, sister and brother in laws, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 21, at the Greek Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2800 Clairmont Rd, Atlanta GA 30329, with Fr. Paul Kaplanis, Fr. Christos Mars and Fr. Anthony Stratis officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Road Full of Promise Campaign or FOCUS, 3825 Presidential Pkwy, STE 103, Atlanta GA 30340. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons.
