Marcelia Elizabeth Nichols Davis, of Decatur, departed this life on September 29, 2011. She was born November 16, 1921, to Clarence Wesley (Bill) and Gertrude Trusty Nichols. She was an only child and lived her entire life in Atlanta or Decatur, except for a brief time in East Point. She graduated from Commercial High in Atlanta and attended Georgia Evening College, which is now Georgia State University. She always enjoyed her work and garnered many friends throughout 37 years with the Federal Government. She began with the U. S. Civil Service Commission in 1942 and retired from the Centers for Disease Control in 1979. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Manson L. Davis, Jr., and is survived by her daughter, Joyce Davis Fisher, her son, Manson L. Davis, III (Buddy) as well as their spouses, David T. Fisher and Aimee Slaughter Davis; her grandchildren, Cameron W. Davis, Julie Davis Charles, and Andrew S. Davis, her grandson-in-law – James Charles and 2 great-granddaughters, Ellie and Emma Charles. The memorial service for Marcelia will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Rd, Decatur GA 30033, at 2:00 pm, Monday, Oct. 3. The family will receive friends and extended family from 1-2:00 pm prior to funeral service. Interment of the cremated remains will take place later with close family only. Marcelia had requested that anyone wishing to honor her memory should make a donation to the American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree St., STE 550, Atlanta GA 30303. A. S. Turner & Sons.
