Margaret Ann Sharian

Margaret "Peggy" Hampton Sharian, known to family and friends as "Peggy", died Sunday, January 21, at the age of 89. Peggy was born March 15, 1928 in Clarkston, GA. Peggy graduated from Clarkston High School in 1945. Shortly after graduating from High School, she was employed by Western Union and later Federated Mutual Insurance Company. In 1951 she married Paul Sharian and they made their home in Decatur. A devout Christian and lifelong Methodist, Peggy grew up in the Clarkston Methodist Church and later attended Pattillo UMC and Avondale Pattillo UMC. She was a member of the Scott Sunday School Class of Avondale Pattillo UMC. Her great love was the nurseries at both Pattillo Memorial and Avondale Pattillo where she was the director.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Paul Sharian; son, Randy Sharian of Atlanta; daughters, Margaret Hilderbrand and her husband, CJ, of West Columbia, SC, and Lydia Sharian of Decatur; sister, Frances Hoffmann of Tucker; niece, Beth Moore of Tucker; two grandsons, Paul Hilderbrand and his wife, Rebekah, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Phillip Hilderbrand of Decatur; great grandson, Elijah Hilderbrand; and many more loving family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, William McCall Hampton and Mattie Slaughter Hampton; and brother, William Eugene Hampton.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church with Reverend Frank Windom and Reverend Tom Atkins officiating. Interment will follow at Decatur Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church.
