Margaret Ann Williams

Margaret Ann (Maggie) Williams, 97, passed away on January 28, 2023 in Decatur, Georgia. She was born on January 27, 1926 in Nashville, TN to James Napier Graves Sr and Mary Sue (Hite) Richardson.

Margaret Ann attended Litton High School in Nashville where she met her future husband Dick Williams. Soon after he returned from World War II they were married on December 6, 1946 and they had 32 wonderful years together until his death on August 27, 1979. They had one child, Cynthia (Steve) Platto of Atlanta.

She enjoyed playing USTA and ALTA tennis and played until she was 75 years old. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed going out dancing with her many friends. Maggie loved her family, friends and her church, St. Bede's Episcopal.

Her grandchildren include Richard (Emily), of Norcross, GA, Andrew, of Gainesville, GA and Adam (Amanda) of Lawrenceville, GA. She was lovingly called "GG" by her great grandchildren, Rebecca, Cameron and Madelyn.

Her nieces, nephews and cousins called her "Aunt Maggie" and she was like a second mother to her nieces Diane Hood and Susan Martin. We would like to send a special "thank you" to the staff and care givers of Medlock Gardens Assisted Living in Decatur for all the loving care they gave to "Miss Maggie".

The Celebration of Life service for Margaret Ann Williams will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 1:00 PM at St. Bede's Episcopal Church and will be presided over by The Very Reverend S. Chadwick Vaughn. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery, 229 Bell Street in Decatur, GA on Thursday, February 23 at 11:00 AM for family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Bede's Episcopal Church, 2601 Henderson Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30345.
