Margaret "Bell" Bloodworth slipped peacefully into the hands of God on Tuesday evening, April 13, 2010. She was born on Apri124, 1915 in Cornelia, Georgia. Most of Margaret's life has been spent in DeKalb County where she attended Avondale High School and Graduated from Decatur High School in 1931. Following graduation she attended The Crighton Business School and Mitchell College (1932-34). In 1934 she began her extensive career in teaching at Barium Springs where she taught until the beginning of WWII in 1942. Her first students remain active and in contact with their teacher. Each year they gather at Barium Springs for a class reunion where Miss Bell was always their guest of honor. In 1942-45 she joined The Atlanta Army Service Forces, Signal Corps where she served until 1945. In June of 1945 Margaret married Nick Bloodworth and began a family. Michael Hoyt Bloodworth was born in July of 1946 and Diane Bloodworth was born in May of 1950. Settling in Decatur, Mrs. Bloodworth began teaching in the Decatur City Schools in 1947 until retirement in 1975. Even at an advanced age, Margaret has remained remarkably active in organizations like the AARP, Red Hat Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Church Women United, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Emory Presbyterian Woman, The Georgia Retired Teachers Association and The Dekalb Retired Teachers Association. She has held responsible positions in all of these groups and has served as The President of most of them. Margaret was a faithful member of Emory Presbyterian church and for over 90 years a member and servant to the Loudsville Campmeeting family. It has been said that Margaret was a "Collector of Friends." Margaret was preceded in death by husband Jonathan Hoyt "Nick" Bloodworth. She is survived by son, Michael Hoyt Bloodworth and wife Judy; daughter, Diane Bloodworth Forrester; Step Daughter, Gayle Haygood and husband Larry; Grandchildren, Michael John Forrester and wife Christine, Jonathan Forrester and wife Heather, Gary Forrester and friend Amanda, Daniel Forrester and friend Olga, Meredith and husband John; Great Grandchildren, Natalie, Nick and Will Forrester; Sisters-in-law, Naomi Bell, Agnes Side, Dent Bloodworth and Polly Bloodworth; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Margaret's life will be shared at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 25th at The Decatur Presbyterian Church.
