Margaret C. Harris

May 22, 1926 — July 5, 2009

Margaret C. “Pegge” Harris, 83, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2009. She was predeceased by her loving husband LTC (USA, retired) Charles “Chuck” Harris. Pegge is survived by her three sons Chess and his wife Karen of Suffolk, VA, Rickey and his wife Denise of Talbotton, GA, and Dexter and his wife Erika of Warner Robbins, GA, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and many friends from the Briarcliff United Methodist Church. Pegge was born to George and Una Corey in Dalton, PA in 1926. She graduated from Temple University and served on General MacArthur’s staff in Japan following World War II. She was a life-long student with a zeal for learning. She attended University courses up until months before her death.  She trekked around the world supporting the U.S. Army units that her husband Chuck served. She could never say no, and would always be the first to volunteer to support Veterans, their spouses, and the civilian communities. Her smile, humor, and love for life were infectious. Her beautiful garden and flowers told story of her commitment. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Briarcliff United Methodist Church, 4105 Briarcliff Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30345 (404) 321-3854 on Saturday, July 11, at 1 PM.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Briarcliff United Methodist Church, her sanctuary, love, and community for so many years.  A. S. Turner & Sons
