Margaret Costa Baird

August 16, 1915 — October 28, 2011

Margaret Costa Baird died October 28, 2011. She was born in 1915 in Athens, Georgia and graduated from Athens High School and the University of Georgia. She worked for Farm Security Administration for 8 years and later for General Motors Plant in Doraville for 36 years. She was a very capable and loyal employee and was secretary to many of their plant managers. Margaret did community service at DeKalb Hospital and also delivered meals on wheels. She is survived by a sister, Zena Costa Brown and a brother Michael J. "Skip" Costa and his wife Ann, all of Atlanta, and a niece and nephew and five great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Lloyd C. Baird. Margaret was also a loyal Georgia Bulldog fan and an avid Braves fan and she traveled extensively. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2855 Briarcliff Rd.NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3pm on Wednesday at A.S. Turner and Sons, Decatur, Ga.
