Margaret Helen George

Margaret Helen George, age 93, passed away peacefully at Odyssey Hospice in Decatur, GA on January 7, 2012. Born in Atlanta, GA on June 4, 1918. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. She retired from 40 years of service at Emory University and was an active volunteer for Decatur Presbyterian Church, the Clan Graham Society, Soroptomist International of Atlanta, the Doll Collectors Guild of Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta Miniature Society, the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, and the Children's Restoration Network. She is survived by her brothers, Carroll Hitchcock George of Arlington, VA and Paul Eugene George of Chattanooga, TN; her nephews, Paul Eugene George II of Powell, OH and Clive Franklin Jacks, Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA; her nieces, Carol Jean George of Arlington, VA, Elizabeth Ann Miller of Charlottesville, VA, and Marilyn George Smith of Dayton, TN. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Westview Cemetery at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 14th followed by a memorial service at Decatur Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm which will include a reception with friends and family to celebrate her rich life. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the "Landscaping Project Fund" at Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA, 30030. The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons.
