Margaret (Penny) Simms died October 31st at Odyssey Hospice after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She recently celebrated her 65th birthday with family and friends. Born in Lakeland, Florida on October 28, 1943, to Edmund and Ethel Pendleton, she moved to the Atlanta area in 1965. Ms. Simms worked with Eastern Airlines in reservations and ticketing for many years and most recently with Societe Internationale Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA) as a Senior Analyst. Penny was an active volunteer Rescue Manager with KanineKids and was a member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Simms; sisters, Joyce Garberoglio (Joseph), North Palm Beach, FL, and Helen Hall, Murfreesboro, TN; and sister-in-law, Lanne Pendleton, Lakeland, FL. Penny was dearly loved by her nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, followed by a reception. Penny requested donations to KanineKids (info@KanineKids.com) in lieu of flowers.
