Mrs. Margaret Porter Lee, 80, of Decatur died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at her home. The daughter of the late Benjamin George and Mamie Booth Porter, she was born in Waycross and raised in Valdosta. She was a homemaker and a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Mrs. Lee was renowned for her faith, her love of her family, her service to others, and her homemade biscuits and oatmeal cookies. Although educated and trained as a nurse, most of her adult life was spent in service to her Lord, her family and her community. She was a former president of the Atlanta Junior League and received awards for service to her church and to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband Howard B. Lee, M.D. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Toby (Howard, Jr.) and Vicki Lee, Decatur, Richard and Patti Lee, Tallahassee, FL, Mike Lee and Spence Lee, both of Decatur; grandchildren, Angela Gee, Kevin Lee, Lauren and Josh Taylor, Zachary Lee, Garrett Lee and Marissa Lee; and a great grandchild, Alyson Gee; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Paula Porter, Victorville CA, Ben and Hazel Porter, Macon, John and Inli Porter, Heidelberg, Germany; her special caregiver, Nigisti Ogbayohannes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. At the request of her family, close friends of the family and honorary sons will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, April 7th at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church with Rev.'s Larry Burgess and Fred Pitts officiating. Interment will follow at Flora Hills Memory Gardens. A reception in honor of Mrs. Lee will be held following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Margaret P. Lee Scholarship fund maintained by Clairmont Hill Baptist Church, 1995 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Friday, April 6 at A. S. Turner & Sons.
