Mrs. Margaret Rice Barineau of Monroe, formerly of Clarkston, died Sunday, January 25, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hentz Barineau, and two sisters. Mrs. Barineau is survived by her daughters, Betty McElreath of Monroe and Joyce Barineau of Loganville; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Dot Barineau of Lawrenceville; sister, Sue Miller of Savannah; brother, Walter Rice of Cleveland; grandchildren, Michael McElreath, Janet Jacobs, Brenda Martz and Ben Barineau; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barineau was an 83 year member of Clarkston United Methodist Church and celebrated her 100th birthday on October 22, 2008 at Park Place Nursing Home in Monroe. At the age of 16, Margaret went to work at Rich’s in Atlanta where she was employed for 46 years before retiring. She continued to enjoy her gardening, bowling, traveling and family parties. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28th, at 1 p.m. at Clarkston United Methodist Church, Dr. Boyd Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Ct., Social Circle, GA 30025. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27th at A. S. Turner & Sons.
