Margaret W. Beavers

Margaret Ruth Wright Simmons Beavers, age103, of Lilburn, passed away on May l7, 2017. Margaret was born on April 16, 1914, in Atlanta. She touched many lives in her long and blessed life. She was a faithful lifelong member of Peachtree Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School classes and sang in the Sanctuary Choir for many years. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School class with her close friends. She was employed for 47 years in the Southeastern Regional Office of F.W. Woolworth Company. Margaret enjoyed gardening and had been active in her former neighborhood garden club. She was a talented cook and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends in her home. She was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching their games on television.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, James and Chloie Wright; brothers, Walter, Ralph, and Herbert Wright; and sisters, Bert Armstrong and Dot Michael. She often said she was lucky to have had two wonderful, loving husbands who preceded her in death, Curtis Simmons and Bill Beavers.
Margaret is survived by step daughters, Gail Haygood (Tom) and Jane Mitchell (Ron); step-grandchildren, Erin Strawn (Lance), Andrea Pagnotta (Nick), Ryan Mitchell (Lindsey), and Lisa St. George (Chris); step great grandchildren, Charlotte Mitchell, Jett Pagnotta, Piper and Kipton Fisher, and Braxton, Brody, and Lilly Strawn; her sister, Jenny Malone and brother, Marvin Wright (Hokie); and sister-in-law, Betty Wright. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their appreciation to her loving caregivers, Phyllis Babel, Patti Brown, Cindy Fortner, and those at Benton House in Grayson.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Monday, May 22 at 11:00 at Peachtree Baptist Church with Dr. Daniel Vestal officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Margaret’s memory to Peachtree Baptist Church, 2108 Briarcliff Rd., Atlanta, GA 30329.
