Margery Fitzgibbons

Margery Gleaton Fitzgibbons, age 83, of Decatur GA transitioned to heaven on February 14, 2018. She was born May 29, 1934 in Cordele, GA to the late Margery Walker Gleaton and William Gayton Gleaton. She is preceded in death by her sister Alyce Ruth Patterson. She is survived by her daughter Janet Fitzgibbons Brown, husband Johnny Mack Brown of Thomson, GA. Her son, Gregory Garrett Fitzgibbons of Lafayette, Indiana and grandchildren William Gregory Brown (and his wife Drew), Ryan Garrett Fitzgibbons, Natalie Alexis Fitzgibbons, devoted cousin Beverly Drake and many nieces and nephews.
She proclaimed the Baptist faith and attended the University of Georgia. Margery possessed all the beauty and grace of a true Southern Belle and was crowned Miss Watermelon Queen of Cordele. During her lifetime she lived in several states including Connecticut and California. She loved her family and friends and was known for her cheerfulness, artistic ability and generosity.
Celebration of life will be held Thursday February 22, 2018 in the chapel of A.S. Turner Sons Funeral home in Decatur. The viewing is 2:00pm and memorial service is 3:00pm. A private graveside service Sunnyside Cemetery through Rainey Funeral Home will be on Saturday February 25, 2018 at 1pm
