Mrs. Marian Jenkins Broome, 91, a resident of Avondale Estates, died on Monday, December 13, 2004 at DeKalb Medical Center. Mrs. Broome was a retired schoolteacher, having taught for 20 plus years in the Richmond County School system in Augusta, GA. She was the widow of the late Harold Bruce Broome of Augusta and his brother, the late Louis Clinton Broome of Avondale Estates. She was a graduate of Young Harris College and Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Broome was an active member of the Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church and the Gideon?s Society. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Hoffman of Stone Mountain, Linda Sundstrom of Gainesville, and Judi Stewart of Signal Mountain, TN; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Josephine Wills of Birmingham, AL; and two stepsons, Thomas Broome of Dacula and Jack Broome of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, December 16, 2004 at the Chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Tayve Morgan officiating. The remains will be taken to Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Home in Augusta where a service will be held at 12 PM Saturday. The family of Mrs. Broome requests that memorials be made to Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons and from 7 to 9 PM Friday at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Home in Augusta. A. S. Turner & Sons
