Marianne O. Hamlet

Marianne Oxford Hamlet, 87, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2014, following a battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Elberton, Ga, she was a graduate of Russell High School. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis Riley Oxford and Ernest Oxford. She is Survived by her husband of 66 yrs, Simon B. Hamlet, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laura Hamlet of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter and son-in-law Pamela Hamlet Carswell and Kenneth Carswell of Jesup, Ga; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Doris Hatterick of Marietta, Ga; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. A member of Mount Carmel Christian Church for over 45 yrs, Marianne was a wonderful servant of the Lord as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a treasure to all those she touched and made a lasting investment in the lives of others. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 11:00 am at Mount Carmel Christian Church, 6015 Old Stone Mountain Rd, Stone Mountain, Ga, with Dr. Michael Hamlet and Rev. Art Stansberry officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens at 376 Fairview Rd , Stockbridge, Ga. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Christian Church.
