Marilyn "Dolly" Molz Auton, 83, of Atlanta died Thursday after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Mrs. Auton is survived by Leonard, her husband of 59 years; sister, Lorraine Fitzgerald of Roanoke, VA; sons, Leonard Jr. and his wife Jenny of Lawrenceville, Gary and his wife Julie of Atlanta; daughter, Marcie Michelotti and her husband Robert of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Andrew and Jonathan Auton, Bryan and Ashley Auton, Chase and Victoria Michelotti; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Auton was preceded in death by her brother Jack Molz, who also died from PSP. The daughter of Harold Jack and Ethel Bull Molz, Mrs. Auton was born in Topeka, KS on May 2, 1927. The youngest of three children, she spent most of her childhood and teenage years in Richmond, VA, where she attended Fox School, Bedford Junior High and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She lived for several years in New Bedford, MA before moving to Charlotte, NC, where she worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company. There she met and married Leonard and moved with him to Asheville, NC when he was transferred. From there he was transferred to Columbia, SC and finally to Atlanta in 1955, where he retired in 1987. Mrs. Auton was a caterer who specialized in wedding cakes with hand sculptured flowers. In 2001 she catered their 50th wedding anniversary dance party. She and Mr. Auton loved ballroom dancing and often danced several times a week in addition to weekly classes through the Life Enrichment program. Mrs. Auton played the violin, piano and autoharp, which she used in more than 50 years of teaching Sunday School for young children. She had been a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church since 1968. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to The Society for PSP, or the Altar Guild of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. A memorial service will be held at the church on Thursday, July 1st at 2:00 PM, with visitation at 1:00 PM in the church parlor. A. S. Turner & Sons
