Marilyn "Lynn" Vogler

January 3, 1931 — January 25, 2017

Marilyn Lydia "Lynn" Rubio Vogler, 86, of Decatur, beloved wife and mother, passed away on January 25, 2017. Born in Evanston, IL, January 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Julio and Lydia Putkammer Rubio. Marilyn studied ballet and was able to perform with the Atlanta Ballet on an occasion. Along with ballet, Marilyn enjoyed traveling, cooking, and studying different languages. In her travels, she spent time in France where she had the opportunity to learn and study French cuisine. Marilyn was an active mother and devoted wife, volunteering with the schools and teaching dance to underprivileged children and supporting her husband in the cancer fundraising effort, Carnival for Cure, at Emory. She was also a member of Emory University Women's Club where she participated in developing the Emory Cookbook. Out of all her volunteering opportunities, one of Marilyn's favorite experiences was assisting at the 1996 Olympics.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. William Ralph Vogler; daughter, Kathy Steinbruegge and her husband, Bob; sons, Gregory Vogler, and Brian Vogler and his wife, Kay; grandchildren, Robbie and Jamie Steinbruegge and Kendal Vogler; and many more family and friends. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her step-mother, Phyllis.
